Two small town girls from different parts of southeastern North Carolina, Kelly and Micah grew up worlds apart but are truly birds of a feather. These ladies believe it was no accident that their lives collided when they did. They met nearly 10 years ago both working as apprentices at Bangz Salon and Spa.“We were both young and just trying to get our feet on the ground and found an instant connection with one another.” Kelly laughed as she added “for the first few weeks working at Bangz, Micah couldn’t even go to the restroom without me stepping on her coat tail saying where are you going????” They explain their friendship as positive, supportive and encouraging. They have always pushed one another to be the best they could at whatever it was they were doing. With a lot of hard work, support and guidance both Micah and Kelly have established reputable clienteles as beauty professionals.
“We are both passionate about our careers as beauty professionals, but who says you cant have more than one passion?!”
It is no secret that both of these ladies love to host. Through the past couple of years there have been numerous wedding showers, engagement parties (even their own,) baby showers, dinner parties and the list goes on! “It honestly just became a thing…one of us, or both of us would host whatever occasion we were celebrating.” With that being said, both Kelly and Micah have accumulated A LOT of event décor that they were lending out to a lot of different people (even each other.) Late last year a member of Kelly’s family proposed to his long term girlfriend. Honored doesn’t begin to explain the emotion when the bride to be asked Kelly and Micah to work with her and design their big day! This was the first wedding either one had ever taken on and as excited as they were, the anxiety couldn’t be calmed! “Kelly and I both have great eyes for styling an event, and even making it personal to the couple, but when you put the two of us together, the possibilities are endless!!!” They with grateful hearts accepted the challenge and immediately, alongside the bride started designing the wedding. After a long night of planning and designing, Micah said to Kelly “it’s a shame we couldn’t make a business out of this.” Kelly responded with stars in her eyes “why cant we?!”
The next day they started adding to inventory and developing a business plan.
Micah loves to stay involved and always loves to help out, Kelly has since become the sole owner of PDM. It was a hard decision for the girls to make, but they both feel that it was the right one! "Getting this ever-growing business off the ground would have never happened without Micah. She was, and still is so supportive. Chasing dreams with friends like her is something that I will always be truly grateful for."
